I’ve been a reader and a writer as long as I can remember (there are plenty of short stories, poems, and plays that have been lost to time). I didn’t think of myself as a writer until I was older, when I started taking creative writing classes and attending workshops in high school.
In 2024, I graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in creative writing, and I’m nearing my graduation from Dominican University with a Masters in Library Information Science — because you really can’t keep me away from anything to do with words.
I have been in and around the theater for a long time. Between theater classes and camps, high school speech team, and community theater, I often found myself doing something theatrical, whether that was onstage or backstage. I began writing plays in 2018, and shifted my focus to children’s/educational theater when I became a theater educator in 2022 and found myself dissatisfied with the material available to me. My philosophy of educational theater is simple: it should be fun, accessible, and offer every performer a moment on center stage.
I also describe myself as a creator of interactive and immersive fiction because not all of my projects easily fit into one neat box. I’m always interested in the line between audience and performer, and the things I can do to bend, blur, and break it. For me, one of the most fun ways to do this Live Action Role Play (LARP). A LARP is different each time it’s played, and I as the writer only have some control over what the characters do and how their stories end!
